The aim of energy efficiency programs and standards that have been launched around the world is to limit the amount of energy wasted by our energy using products (EuP) in standby and active-on modes without negatively impacting product innovation or technologies. In fact, the energy efficiency specifications in existence today (and proposed for the near future) can be achieved using cost-effective technology available today. Some regulations have resulted in component manufacturers innovating and introducing new products that enable compliance to the energy efficiency specifications, at no additional cost.
